Elena Whitham to lead community safety in Scotland

I was hugely honoured to have been asked to join the Scottish Government and take on the responsibilities as Minister for Community Safety. I will take forward my experience gained through my roles in community youth work, homelessness and the 10 plus years as a Women’s Aid worker, supporting women and children experiencing domestic abuse; along with my learned knowledge when I served as Depute Leader of East Ayrshire Council and as COSLA’s Community Wellbeing Spokesperson to continue the work of improving the safety of communities across Scotland.

At the same time as this, my important work as the MSP for Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley continues and my dedicated constituency staff team will continue to ensure that people are supported, and if they need assistance with anything they can contact my local

office at any time.
