To coincide with Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023 myself and Allan Dorans MP held an employment fair in the Carrick Centre in Maybole on Monday 6th March.
And whilst this event was taking place during Scottish Apprenticeship Week, there were opportunities for all ages seeking employment and training and a good turn out of people to visit the stalls.
There were sixteen businesses and organisations from across Ayrshire and beyond represented, advising of jobs, training and apprenticeship opportunities they currently have.
It was really important for me to host an employment fair in Maybole to coincide with Scottish Apprenticeship Week 2023, having held one at the same time last year in Cumnock – and it was great to pull resources and do a joint event this year with my colleague Allan Dorans MP.
My deep thanks go to NHS Ayrshire and Arran; Scottish Fire and Rescue Service; the Army; Royal Navy; Ayrshire College; Morrison Construction Ltd; Trump Turnberry; Street League; Hansel; DWP; Skills Development Scotland; South Ayrshire Care at Home; Street League; South Ayrshire Council Thriving Communities; and South Ayrshire Council VASA who attended the event to show the range of opportunities on offer – and it was especially good to get the chance to have inciteful conversations with each organisation.
My thanks also to the members of the public and pupils who turned up to the event to speak with these organisations, and I hope that opportunities are taken forward as a result.
